Monique is the Graduate Student Mentorship Program Specialist. She has been a student affairs professional for nearly a decade. Previously, she worked with the McNair Scholars Program at Cornell University and California State University, Fullerton. She is a Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) certified facilitator.
Monique is currently a doctoral student in the School of Educational Studies at Claremont Graduate University, with research focus on minoritized graduate student success. She received her MA from Syracuse University in Cultural Anthropology. She serves on the Board of Directors (BOD) of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) as the Graduate Student Member-at-Large. She was the Programs Chair during the first three years of her BOD appointment.
Monique’s husband is a UCR doctoral candidate and they are proud parents of an eight-year-old child named Citlali.
